Sunflower sunflower
Sow me a seed
Give me a time to remember
Stamens sparkle and glow
Row upon row
Forever
Sunflower sunflower
Shoot me a line
Show me a time to remember
Stand upright blithe
Reach for the sky
Forever
Sunflower sunflower
Spiralling high
Spirals abound in your centre
Yellow fiery and proud
Shouting out loud
Forever
Sunflower sunflower
Glitter and spin
Make me a time to remember
Queen of the garden
Sunflowers reign
Forever

Like lions and the sun, there is something regal about these flowers. I love the way you capture their fiery nature and the incantatory qualities of the poem.

Ah, I like your analogy … they do seem regal – appreciate your thoughts – especially like the phrase ‘incantatory qualities’.
Thank you for commenting, Marina.

Polly, I love how your sunflower has a vibrant personality… “shouting out loud/forever…” And the refrain, “Sunflower, sunflower,” is both sweet and evocative. Thanks so much! Amy

Quite a ‘sing-song’ style. Nice

Hmmm, sing-song is pretty, yes?
