Peace and quiet she longs for always,
Drives them to the park to play,
Dark hills and clouds stay louring grey,
As she runs them ragged all the day.

I hear that! Loud and clear.

Every mother will identify …

Oh, yes, best to drain them of all that energy in order to have a more peaceful night. Too bad it doesn’t always work…
05/01/2013 at 17:07
Usually works for mum, though
05/01/2013 at 18:29
That it does.

Yes–I want to send mine out to make snowmen, and I will in a minute or two…
05/01/2013 at 19:38
Cool! Literally!

Peace and quiet, I think, is every mother’s dream on occasion!

Mary, for some reason this post was lurking in the dark and smelly spam! I have rescued it and thank you for writing
05/01/2013 at 19:52
Peace and quiet is something that all mothers yearn for occasionally, or more than occasionally – LOL.

Ah, Mary, there speaks a ma with heartfelt sentiment
05/01/2013 at 21:11
Ha. My grandson visited me during the holidays. I found peace and quiet after he left. Sill, I love his noise.
05/01/2013 at 21:31
Ah, and don’t we all, Myrna? We wouldn’t change ‘em for the world
05/01/2013 at 21:11
Don’t we all wish for this peace ~ Yet ironically enough when its quiet, we all worry and wonder what is up ~
05/01/2013 at 21:31
heh-heh … there is danger in silence, as every mother / grandmother knows
05/01/2013 at 21:18
Wear ‘em out to quiet ‘em down… I can relate…
05/01/2013 at 21:32
Yep, that’s the one, Laurie
05/01/2013 at 21:19
haha…that sounds familiar…my son had energy for three when he was small and we went outside in the worst weather just to get him a bit tired for a peaceful night…smiles
05/01/2013 at 21:32
Come rain or shine, we know what we must do
05/01/2013 at 21:30
haha….def run the kids til they are wore out…then you will find your peace…lol…written only as a parent would understand…smiles.
05/01/2013 at 21:33
Parents the world over can relate to this, it seems, Brian
05/01/2013 at 23:04
Ha ha…oh yes I know this one.

…Mom would love to read this poem.. we always irritates her with our noise in the kitchen, in the living area, in her garden, in the garage, in bed, in..everywhere… and she’s happy – better than having us not by her side… Hihi… Lovely offering…smiles…

After three days’ skiing (boys tired and quite quiet every evening) we’re back in the flat where it’s hard for them to find ways to get rid of the energy. So it’s back to constant Star Wars. Bang! Beee-Ong! Pow-Ca-Pow! Can I relate to that poem, Polly!
06/01/2013 at 13:21
I’ll bet you can with three energetic youngsters
06/01/2013 at 15:59
A mother’s prayer, Polly!
06/01/2013 at 16:01
Indeed ~ one we’ve all uttered!
06/01/2013 at 16:49
Very charming. k.
06/01/2013 at 16:51
Thanks k. Feeling better?
06/01/2013 at 17:22
No children of my own, but I know how this feels! One of the nicest parts of seeing nephews and nieces is the peace that descends when I get in the car to drive home. I love them all, but after a while I simply need a quiet space…

99.9% of people reading this will know exactly what you mean, Tony
06/01/2013 at 18:56
Yep! Keep ‘em busy, get ‘em tired, then relax!
06/01/2013 at 23:25
It’s the best way, Kim

Beautiful….and we love the picture.

‘Louring grey’ – loving that! Never heard that, what a great word. And the poem works well.

Thanks Andy ~ I was tempted to put glowering, but preferred louring, that dark moodiness comes over better, I think.
