A hungry time of year for the tweets, who flock to the bird table. Breadcrumbs, mealworms, nuts meet with their approval, as does the fat ball dangling below … ‘Cyril squirrel! Get off there!’
Birds do get their revenge sometimes. I’m thinking of a particularly greedy blue jay who packed the head of a squirrel attempting to raid the bird feeder! If course, blue jays also chase off other birds, but in this case, I had to give Big Blue credit for taking on a mammal! Sweet. Amy
Ah, they’re so cute ~ can’t say so much for the naughty squirrels though! … although, they are dear little creatures … when they’re not pinching the bird food (!)
I love feeding the birds. I don’t mind feeding the squirrels and chipmunks too, but they are greedy little fuzzballs and tend to take more than their fair share.
We have just one squirrel here and he comes by at dinner time each night sits on a branch of a tree by the window and stares in at us. Not supposed to feed him, but we do.

Yes, I do. Of course, I live right next to a creek and woods, so I also have deer, fox, coyotes, coons, etc.
