Norma

To celebrate a blogging friend’s 500 followers in just one year – here is a short poem for the highly recommended ‘Through My Eyes.’

Norma

Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast
an hour away from Brisbane at most,
where buildings pictured from the 19th floor
shine sapphire, emerald, topaz and more,
like they’re bedecked with jewels.
And Norma, good pupil,
practises night photography.

  1. Oh that’s great Polly! I’ve never had a poem written about me before, an opera yes, but not a poem. Great stuff!!!! :)

  2. WOW! An Opera written for someone is pretty amazing… a tough act to follow for anyone, but Polly! :)

  3. Well not me personally lol. Bellini wrote the opera Norma in 1831 :)

    • heh-heh… you didn’t have to say that! It was rather wonderful thinking you’d had an opera written about you… which, of course, you have! ;)

I’ve had the honour of having a poem written for me by my blogging friend Polly. Polly used one of my photos. Be sure to check out her blog :)

  5. What a lovely idea to write a poem to celebrate your friend’s accomplishment! A congrats to Norma!

  6. Polly, ironic that I was just eulogizing Riley’s friend, and here you have a tribute to someone who is alive and well and thriving. And an artist. Night photography is tricky – catching the light is one thing, but catching images through the ABSENCE of light is quite another. I think it’s wonderful that you celebrated your friend’s success with a poem. And her site is indeed gorgeous! Thanks for your prayers on my site, and sorry it’s taken so long to get back. Peace, Amy

  7. this is perfection, photo and prose. invites the reader/observer in….kudos~
