This Morning

…there’s almost a hint
of autumn,
a mist of fresh
damply taste
—a touch—
painting skin
with what’s to come.

A second offering for the dVerse ‘Let’s LIMBO’ prompt to write a line in forty words or fewer – I love short poems – this one has twenty words.

  5. Mon Dieu! I am not ready to let go of summer. Congratulations on another gem! I simply refuse to acknowledge the coming of autumn until the weather cools and the squash show up in our village market. ;) x

While I have no intentions of letting go of summer yet, Polly has inspired me to give it serious thought with this gem.

    • We’ve had a divine summer and it’s really not over yet, just the faintest nip in the air this morning, and the mist is a dead giveaway! ;)

Ah, yes, that cool, damp breeze that reminds us of winter while the sun still blazes overhead. Lovely.

    • I wish I could draw like you, k. A sketch would enhance seasonal poems :)

      • Ha! Well, thanks. I am sure you could draw perfectly well!

For a while I was rather addicted to the iPad, where there are all kinds of tricks for drawing though actual free hand drawing is quite a bit harder–but I find in the end it is much faster and my own to go back to pencil. I have been so terribly busy lately with my job I have gotten completely out of drawing, but I really do want to go do another little children’s story. Thanks again, Polly. k.
